Narendra Modi Wins by Huge Margin in Vadodara and Varanasi


Vadodara: BJP's prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi won Vadodara in Gujarat by a record three lakh votes over his Congress rival Madhusudan Mistry in Vadodara.

Apart from Vadodara, Modi also won from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh with a landslides victory by nearly 1.5 lakh votes where he is pitted against Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal and Ajay Rai of Congress.

Initial trends from 18 out of 26 seats in Gujarat showed BJP is leading in 17 seats and Congress in one.

Meanwhile, senior Congress leader Ambika Soni was trailing behind Shiromani Akali Dal nominee Prem Singh Chandjuamajra from the Anandpur Sahab Lok Sabha constituency of Punjab.

Soni, a former Union Minister, was trailing by 4932 votes, election office said.

Actor-turned-politician Vinod Khanna is leading over Punjab Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab.

Bajwa was trailing by 9,979 votes, the election office said.
