NSA Spying On India, BJP Targeted!

BANGALORE: In a shocking revelation for the newly elected government is the release of classified information that the BJP party was under surveillance by NSA, an agency of the American government, back in 2010. These documents along with many other classified information was released by Edward Snowden, a former NSA contractor. This is the first time the Modi government will deal with an issue such as this.

NSA has been given authorization for global monitoring. Apart from four faithful allies NSA has 193 countries under its surveillance according to the sources from the release made by Snowden. It also has legal authorization from FISA, foreign intelligence surveillance act court, to spy on world organizations such as world bank, international monetary fund, European union and OPEC, to name a few.

In 2010, NSA sought authorization from FISA that was granted to spy on BJP along with other non-U.S. political parties such as the Pakistan people party, Egypt Muslim brotherhood and Egyptian national salvation front are among others.

In light of this document resurfacing, the Modi government is not happy and will take up the issue with the American administration, especially now that BJP has come to power, it may hamper PM Modi’s visit to the U.S.

Back in 2010, when the UPA government had information, the then External Affairs Minister, Salman Kurshid, had commented that is was just “computer analysis,” furthermore he said that India being spied by the U.S. had diverted attacks as the information allowed the government to take swift action.
