Mobile Phones, Chowmein, Short Skirts: Things That Cause Rape In India?

Sudin Dhavalikar:

Goa’s Public Works Department Minister, Sudin Dhavalikar said that by banning young girls from wearing short skirts to nightclubs of popular beach destination, Goa can curb crime against women.

He also claimed that India knows that all these rapes and assaults are happening because the girls in short dresses ask for it. “Young girls wearing short skirts in nightclubs are a threat to the Goan culture,” Dhavalikar exclaimed.

"Pub culture is not Indian culture and we don't want Western culture. Young people go drinking and it often leads to law and order problems. Our sisters and daughters are getting spoilt. Goa was a city of temples and churches. We don't want pub-tourism," he added, reports NDTV.

Binay Bihari:

Bihar Art, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister Binay Bihari said that mobile phones and non-vegetarian food are responsible for the surge in rape cases in the country. So, he favored ban on cell phones among school students.

“Many students misuse mobile phones by watching blue films and hearing obscene songs which pollute their mind,” Bihari added. He further revealed an instance when he had caught two students watching blue film on their mobile phone during a visit to a school.

“You pay a surprise visit to any school and you will find costly mobile phone in the hands of students in the higher classes,” he said, adding that they also exchanged ‘dirty’ SMSes.
