Less 'Favoritism Shown By Government' In These 10 Countries


BANGALORE: When it comes to favoritism shown by government officials to influential corporates, India's ranking has improved sharply to 49th place on a global list, but remains below that of China and many major economies.

India's ranking has improved significantly in terms of public trust in politicians, as also with regard to diversion of public funds and for the 'irregular payments and bribery' at government institutions, as per an annual study by the World Economic Forum (WEF). The countries have been ranked based on a survey which "government officials show favoritism to well-connected firms and individuals when deciding upon policies and contracts."

Switzerland:

Known for its beautiful landscape and rich heritage, Switzerland is one nation in the world that has a tradition of impartiality that dates back to the Treaty of Paris in 1815.

So, Switzerland enjoys very low level of violent crimes, homicides and political terror, although the GPI gauge of terrorist activity registered a modest rise from a very low base, with three incidents recorded in 2011 by the University of Maryland’s Global Terrorism Database.

The political scene is stable in spite of the right-wing Swiss People’s Party (SVP) continuation to follow opposition strategy in the five-party coalition government. All these attributed to the stable state of the country that keeps it free from all conflicts.
