India's Much Awaited Verdicts

BANGALORE: India, although is heading steadfastly towards achieving the title of a developed nation, it still has a gloomy and dark side to it. So far, the country has witnessed shocking court cases which have been intense and where justice is still pending. Here is a list of the most awaited verdict which India still waits for its fair execution.

Gang-rape of 5-year old ‘Gudiya’ in Delhi: Though, Nirbhaya, the Delhi gang-rape victim finally got justice, still many rape victims in India are yet to get justice and relief. The rape involving a five-year-old girl — Gudiya, who was brutalized by two men for over two days in the Gandhi Nagar slums of east Delhi in April last year is one such case.

Today, Gudiya’s rapists languish behind bars and the trial, where her case is being argued by public prosecutor Rajiv Mohan, who also handled the December 16 gang rape case, is moving apace in a special court under the new POSCO Act (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012).
Rebecca Mammen John, a Supreme Court lawyer said about the verdict in Nirbhaya case, "While we applaud this verdict and the relative speed with which the trial was conducted, we mourn the fact that there are so many survivors out there who are neither getting any kind of media attention, nor are they getting any kind of judicial attention," reports Reuters.
