Ind Vs Aus: What's Your Excuse To Catch The Live Action?

BANGALORE: India is a secular country, and cricket is not just a mere sport but it’s the biggest religion they worship here. Indians have grown watching the gentleman’s game and the fever of the sport runs high in their blood. And when it’s time for World Cup, nothing on the planet seems more important to the crazy cricket fans, reports India Times.

Ind VS AusThe World Cup 2015 is nearing its closure, and India has safely made it to the semi-finals. The next big match the country eyes on is against Australia and the biggest spoiler is it commences 9am sharp. Yet, the cricket craze would once again outshine all as the fans have the most selective of excuses up their sleeves to miss out everything but the match on the day. After all, how on earth could you miss watching the semi finals?

“My Father’s Sister’s Daughter-in law died, I need to leave straight away”- are the regular excuses they offer their bosses. A study mentioned that 34 percent among the surveyed 6,000 Indian office goers would probably end up taking a sick leave while 2 percent of them would come up with a story of burglars breaking into their homes.  But is your boss going to buy that old story again?

This year majority of India’s matches took place on weekends. However, this crucial match would come about on Thursday which has left the spectators worried sick about how and where they would get to watch the match.

Some of the over understanding bosses (sure must be cricket addicts too) have declared holiday at office while some other empathetic ones have arranged a big screen to catch the thrill live. Could you beat that? It could happen only in a country where sports means cricket!

With this, some 60 percent have sadly declared to report at the office but would keep tuned in with the latest updates.

Half of the nation has already asserted its verdict of India winning the match yet it hasn’t affected the enthusiasm and elation among Indians. Offices all over the country have prepared for some or the other ‘jugaad’ but not miss the match.

ESPNcricinfo interviewed 6,000 respondents and revealed, "Cricket fans will not let work get in the way of them enjoying the much-awaited World Cup tournament. Sixty two per cent said they will miss work at some point. When it comes to what excuses they would use to skip work, the time-tested method of calling in sick appeals more to the younger fans; 75 percent fans over 30 are open to skipping work to watch a match."
