Flipkart's 'Secret Agents' To Spy on Counterfeit Products Online

BENGALURU: Flipkart has opened its five-day mega discount sale on Tuesday. It is braced on to banish counterfeit and low quality products the sellers try to sell via Flipkart. So, the company deployed spies to keep an eye on their sellers, reports The Economic Times.

This works as employees playing as the customers and they will order the products from Flipkart. Once they get the product, they examine it for the quality and share their experience about the product and service to the company. The company also hired a Big Four consultancy firm.

The company’s so called secret agents have to send the photos of the packaging, labels and products that are delivered to them. If the product and service is sub-standard, necessary action will be taken against the seller.

Employees who sign up to volunteer for this spy act will get special incentives from the company and  Flipkart shopping vouchers.

"With rising customer concerns around fake and counterfeit products online, we have rolled out the Flipkart mystery shopping programme where employees can act as Flipkart secret agents to identify fraudulent sellers on our platform. This initiative aims to ensure optimum quality, uniformity and fidelity of all the packages delivered to customers," said Manish Maheshwari, head and vice-president, seller ecosystem, at Flipkart.
