Female Bike Rider Shreya Sunder Signs Up to Ride For TVS Racing


BENGALURU: Shreya Sunder Iyer (24), the next time you will be hearing this name it won’t come as a surprise to you. After the recent contract signing with TVS Racing this Indian millennial has achieved what no other female in India has- becoming the first woman bike rider to be signed by a racing team she will be taking part in Indian National Rally championship this year as part of the TV Racing team.

Shreya, a design and management student at Mount Carmel College, Bengaluru started bike riding at the age of 17 on a friend’s bike in college. Since then she has rode across the country and abroad being the first Indian woman rider to participate and complete the KTM Adventure Tour across the sand dunes ride Dubai. 

On Indian tracks, she has successfully crossed the Kalasa River in Chikkamagalur. She has also been part of the Southern India Biking Expedition and covered nearly 2,000km in six days during the expedition.

TVS believes signing Shreya will not only help promote two-wheeler racing in India but will encourage women to take racing as a career. “We make continuous efforts to take the sport to as many section of the society as possible and create the ultimate machine and promote the riders for these machines,” said Arvind Pangaonkar, Head of Team TVS Racing, while talking to Zigwheels.

Shreya, also a well versed classical singer and dancer, is excited with her recent association with TVS Racing and looks forward to work with top-notch team, machined and technology. She also hopes to encourage young guns to follow their passion.

It was 33 years ago when TVS started its first racing segment by introducing 50 cc mopeds into road racing. Since then the team actively participates in various racing event both on and off the road.
