E-Visas Facility at Nine Airports Soon

NEW DELHI: To give a major boost to tourism and to attract more tourists, E-visa facilities will be introduced at nine airports in the next six months.

"This will facilitate visas on arrival," he said while presenting his maiden budget. "We will begin the facilities in a phased manner."

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced this while presenting the first national budget of the Narendra Modi government.

He said tourism helped in job creation and e-visas would encourage more tourists to visit India,

During the past year, India has relaxed its visa regime and expanded the Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) scheme to include more countries.

To encourage tourism, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley Thursday proposed an increase in duty free baggage allowance limit from 35,000 to 45,000.

Earlier, anyone above 12 years visiting a foreign country for even three days was allowed to bring goods worth up to 35,000 without paying any duty.
