E-Kisan, A Portal That Will Go Online On July 27

BENGALURU: The pet project of the Agriculture Mnistry, e-Kisan is to be launched on 27th of July. This portal is intended to benefit the farmers who take their produce to cities and towns and forage for wholesale buyers. However this portal acts as the bridge between farmers and wholesale buyers and provides all the information from crop harvesting till selling it to buyers, reports by The Economic Times.

As per the data provided on size of the plot and kind of crop that is intended to grow, the portal estimates information like total amount of fertilizers and pesticides required to harvest, along with advises on weather and kind of seeds that are to be used. Besides basic agriculture, services to animal husbandry and horticulture are also available in the portal.

E-Kisan is a one-stop shop for the entire central and state government organizations in agriculture, which are brought under this portal to provide information and services through SMS in chosen language. However mobile registrations have been open since 2013 and an application for android smart phones is also available for download.

Some states including Karnataka have already distributed free tablets to farmers even before its launch.

After receiving significant amount of feedbacks from the farmers, the second phase of E-Kisan will be designed.
