Bengaluru Tops List in Last-Minute Travel Bookings: Survey

BENGALURU: Hotel booking startup RoomsTonite listed Bengaluru as the tops last minute travel destination. The startup found out that more than 60 pct of the last hour booking made on the mobile are business travelers, reports ET.

The survey carried out the startup included usages patterns of over 1,50,000 users. It was witnessed that bookings at the eleventh hour are mostly made from Bangalore followed by New Delhi and Mumbai.

"Through this trend report, we map the interesting booking propensities of our users. As a last-minute hotel booking channel, our value proposition is unique and users turn to our app to address a very specific need," Suresh John, CEO and founder of RoomsTonite said in a press statement.

The survey also found out that the last minute travelers preferred comfort hotels once their travel plan was confirmed. iOS users surpassed Android loyalists in terms of booking value whereas Android users were found spending 3.5 minutes more on the app on an average than iOS users. 

RoomsTonite is hotel booking startup based out of Bangalore and was founded in 2014. The firm has tie up with esteem hotels like Hyatt, Fortune, Radisson, Park, Ginger, The Lalit, Sarovar, Keys and many budget aggregator startups like OYO Rooms, Zo Rooms and Treebo Hotels. Rooms on the app are available at a discount of 20-50 pct in a three-day booking window. The rates are dynamic and based on the season, total rooms in the required hotel, number of day of the stay and percentage of rooms occupied in the hotel.
