Janet heads the most influential central bank in the world, The Federal Reserve. Janet Yellen-Federal ReserveShe is the first woman to head the board of the Federal Reserve. The baton of the Federal Reserve was passed on to her early this year in February. The world watched the ‘determined dove’ as she is nicknamed, take over the prestigious post, which means to hold control of $4.5 trillion assets.

As she took over as the chief, her to-do list was topped by her aspiration to repair the ‘American Dream.’ In her words: "The extent of and continuing increase in inequality in the U.S. greatly concerns me. I think it is appropriate to ask whether this trend is compatible with values rooted in our nation's history, among them the high value Americans have traditionally placed on equality of opportunity."

68 year old Yellen is also a Yale University Ph.D holder. She was associated with Federal Reserve since late 1970s. Barak Obama praised her for her abilities saying that she is “a proved leader and she is tough and also knows to build consensus.”
