6 Footballers Who Lost Their Lives on the Pitch

Peter Biaksangzuala

The Indian footballer Peter Biaksangzuala passed away on 19^th October 2014 after a dangerous spinal code injury, during a Mizoram premier league match of Bethlehem Vengthlang FC against Chanmari West FC. The news came as a shock to the nation and to all lovers of the game. Peter scored a goal against the opposition and celebrated it with a summersault which resulted in a rough landing injuring his spine. Although he was rushed to hospital, but even a surgery couldn’t save the life of the young player. In the condolence of his death his team Bethlehem Vengthlang FC has retired jersey number 21.

Akli Fairuz

Indonesian footballer Akli Fairuz lost his life on 16^th may 2014 due to a collision with the opposite team goalkeeper. It is visible in the videos that the goalkeeper has kicked in the stomach of the player when he was moving forward with ball during an Indonesian premier league match of Persiraja Banda Aceh Vs PSAP Sigli.

The twenty seven year old was immediately substituted and allowed to rest in the dressing room until the conditions worsened. He was taken to hospital and reported to have an internal intestine injury and passed away in a few hours.
