5 Must Know About The UN Climate Summit

Earth’s Temperature Not Stable: The latest reports show that the earth’s temperature is not stable and that there is a gradual rise above the limit that was fixed back in the 2009 Copenhagen meet. The agreed temperature was for 3.6 degree Celsius but this limit is out of reach.

Hence this plays as a huge concern that required the presence of world leaders to take decisive measures to contain the temperature of the earth.

No New Gases Emitters Targets: The Copenhagen meet in 2009 had a lot of rules, where one was the emission reduction target for certain countries. Officials from America and China have said that there will be no new targets but will comply with the target set in 2009. If there is any target that will be set it will be effective only after 2020.

There will be a series of new targets and initiatives taken by governments, companies and environmental groups which will include tackling of deforestation, methane leaks from natural gas production and the greening of agriculture.

U.S At A Strong Position: President Barack Obama will give a speech as the country has had a major 10 percent reduction in the level of green house gas emission. He will propose new steps and also reveal America’s progress so that they can get the countries to act on curbing carbon dioxide emission with many other initiatives.

America is on their way to fulfilling the 17 percent reduction rate pledged at Copenhagen to fight global warming.

Summit The Center Of Climate Week: The summit will be the center of attraction but there will also be a climate walk by major environmental groups and activist, which is considered to be the largest walk for global warming till date.

The whole week will have plenty of activities led by companies, celebrities and global environment groups.
