In the agricultural country of India, water has always been a crisis. Poor rainfall and ill equipped irrigation infrastructure has always affected the quality and quantity of agricultural production. To bring a change, under the prime minister’s agricultural plan, initiatives and investments will be taken for reduction in water wastage, adoption of water saving technologies, increase recharge of aquifers, introduce sustainable water conservation for municipal water in peri urban regions. The scheme also aims in attracting private investment in the agricultural sector of India.
An estimated investment shows the amount to be around Rs 50,000 crore for coming five years, for the access of these facilities. Rs 5,300 crore has been released for this year’s program solicitation.

Common Electronic Marketplace


Under this scheme is 200crore has been sanctioned by the government for a common electronic platform to be set through the Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium. This has been named Agri-Tech Infrastructure Fund (ATIF) which will start operating in 585 regulated markets at the start. To allow farmers and traders have equal use of this electronic facility; it will be connected over an e-platform at the best price in a hassle free process.
