5 Major Cabinet Decisions That Will Empower Rural India


BENGALURU: India being a developing nation has seen lots of development not just in technical sector but also in infrastructure too. The Cabinet on Wednesday cleared key proposals for rural development and railway lines and also its main focus is the developing clusters of smart villages, according to indiatimes.com.

Let’s take a look at the 5 major decisions that were taken in the cabinet:

 Approval For Negotiating Instruments (Amendment) Ordinance:

Cabinet has given its approval for the proposal to promulgate the Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Ordinance, 2015, which will help trade and commerce in general and allow the lending institution, including banks, to continue to extend financing to the economy, without the apprehension of loan default on account of bouncing of a cheque.

Doubling Of Hotgi-Kudgi-Gadag Route Of Railways:

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved to double the Hotgi-Kudgi-Gadag route which comes around 284 kms at a cost of 1618 Crores and a completion cost of 2058 Crores. A number of Integrated Steel Plants, Power Plants and Cement Plants are coming up along this route, which will provide the necessary line capacity for introduction of additional trains and smooth movement of rakes to and from the industries to power plants.

Scheme Enabling EXIM Bank:

The Cabinet has also approved the EXIM Bank scheme which will offer concessional finance to support Indian companies bidding for strategically important infrastructure projects abroad. This in turn will help the Indian companies to bid for large projects abroad. However the repayment of the loan would be guaranteed by the foreign Government.

Relief From Drought:

The Cabinet has givenits ex-post facto nod to provide an additional 50 days of unskilled manual work in the financial year in areas where drought and natural calamities have been notified. This will eventually enable all the states to provide additional wage employment to the rural poor in drought affected areas. The poorest rural households will benefit from this, as it will help in immediate absorption of rural seasonal unemployment, and reduce rural distress.

Rural Area’s Get Smart Plans:

The Shyama Prasad Mukherji Rurban Mission (SPMRM) has aims to create around 300 Rurban growth clusters over a period of 3 years in the country. All of these clusters are aimed towards development of one’s skill training in regards with economic activity, digital literacy, sanitation, solid and liquid waste management. All this development is to ensure the easy continuum of skilled quality of workers in their own fields.
