5 Key Points You Need To Know About Net Neutrality Report


BANGALORE: The Department of Telecom, DoT, framed a public report on the Net Neutrality on July 16. The topic about the Freedom Of Internet has been gaining steam for quite some now.

The panel emphasized on the user’s right to Net Neutrality and was led by Advisor of Technology, A K Bhargava, reports Money Control.   

Here are the 5 key points of the report:

1. 50-50 for WhatsApp, Skype users
The recommendation from the panel included continuing the over-the-top (OTT) messaging service of WhatsApp unregulated, however, the Indian users might have to start paying for the voice over internet protocol -VoIP or voice calls.

This would benefit the Indian Telecom companies who had suffered the loss of international traffic due to the presence of other players.
