Oil spills at its heights. According to Blacksmith Institute and Green Cross, an average of 2, 40,000 barrels of crude oil spilt in Niger Delta every year. The spill obviously destroyed life above and beneath the delta and cannot be replenished either. The river bleeds black here. Perhaps the children living here grow up with a different picture of a river.
