Oscar-Nominated Room to Release in India on January 29


NEW DELHI: One of the strongest contenders in the Oscars' race this year is the film Room. The film has received four Oscar nods.

The film is to hit the theatres in India on January 29.

Based on the best-selling eponymous novel by Emma Donoghue, Room, directed by Lenny Abrahamson, has been lauded by critics and has won laurels at award events.

The gripping film, which tells the story of a mother-son duo who have been imprisoned in a small room for seven years with all they need to survive, is up for several Academy Awards including nominations in Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.

The lead actor Brie Larson has already won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama. The 26-year-old actor defeated three-time Golden Globe winner Cate Blanchett. The other nominees were Saoirse Ronan for the historical drama Brooklyn, Rooney Mara for the lesbian romance Carol and Alicia Vikander for the biographical film on the first transgender woman, The Danish Girl.

Brie Larson plays the mother and has been appreciated for her breakthrough performance in the film.
