U.S. Based Emerson Acquires Pune-Based Ameya Transmissions


BENGALURU: Diversified global manufacturing firm Emerson today announced acquisition of Pune-based Ameya Transmissions, manufacturer of gear operators and gearboxes, for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition gives U.S.-based Emerson an even stronger end-to-end product line offering for customers, including the actuation of manual valves via gears, the company said in a statement.

Commenting on the development, Emerson Process Management India Managing Director Amit Paithankar said: "This acquisition strengthens our portfolio with the addition of a strong gearbox product platform that enhances our current solutions capabilities for customers in India and around the world."

Ameya's reputation as a quality manufacturer is a great strategic fit for Emerson and strongly complements actuator business, he added.

The acquisition complements Emerson Process Management's final control technologies used primarily in the oil and gas and power industries both domestically and globally, the company said.

Ameya Transmissions has supplied nearly one million gear boxes to the valve industry in India since 1993. Besides serving the Indian market, Ameya products are presently exported to a number of other countries.

The company develops and manufactures a wide range of gear operators, including quarter-turn and multi-turn manual gearboxes, which are supplied to the manual valve industry.

Stating that the deal made great sense for both companies Ameya Transmissions Co-Founder Rohan Pai said: "Our businesses complement each other and we have the opportunity to grow even further because of Emerson's global reach and commitment to excellence.
