Revealed: The Richest Men on The Planet 2014


BANGALORE: Forbes has come up with the much hyped annual billionaires list. The highlights of this year’s list include-Bill Gates regaining top slot dethroning Carlos Slim, presence of 172 women in the list, Facebook propelling four new faces to join the ranks, Turkey’s loss of 19 billionaires from the list and the magnificent leap in Mark Zuckerberg’s  worth from $15.2billion last year to $28.5billion this year. The list names total 1645 billionaires whose net worth combined together comes at $6.4 trillion. India contributes 56 names to the list.

Now, let’s meet the richest men on the planet.

Bill Gates: After a gap of four years, Bill Gates is back at number 1 in the Forbes billionaires list. A rise in Microsoft’s share price is the factor responsible for Gates regaining his lost position.

He has topped the list 15 times in the last 20 years. Forbes estimates his current net worth at $76 billion. Gates stepped down from the position of Microsoft CEO early this year, but during the last year he had added $9 billion to his net worth. He remains committed to his philanthropic efforts through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and has pledged to donate half of his wealth for the well being of the world.
