Retailers To Introduce Mobile Counters And Devices For Easy Shopping


BANGALORE: Time is money and in our society most of us have no time to spare. After a busy day at work when you go for shopping or to purchase the groceries the long queues are always a headache to many people. With the online shopping taking the advantage of the scenario and growing fast, retailers are not ready to take the back seat. Reliance and shoppers stop are planning to introduce mobile counters and hand held devices to help their customers to save time, reports Economic Times.

Reliance retail and shoppers stop are going to experiment with the store executives who will be armed with hand held barcode machines. These executives will reach out to the customers who are ready to do the billing, and this technological move will help to slash the waiting time which is a big treat for the retailers. Reliance has already equipped their stores with credit card swiping machines which help the customers to do make payments too.

Reliance is also in the process of developing its mobile wallet, Jio money, which will help the customers to pay the bills by using their mobile phones. Shoppers stop is piloting a service in selected stores where, the customers can fill their bags and leave it in the store and the store will deliver the products at home and the customers can make the payment at the time of delivery.

J Suresh, MD of Arvind Lifestyle Brands said “It will help us capture higher sales during peak demand time when we see a lot of consumers abandoning trolleys because of longer queues,", which sells various global brands including Gap, US Polo and Nautica. He said the company will introduce hand-held point-of-sale machines at its Gap store.
