Officer's Choice Beats Mallya's Bagpiper

Bangalore: Vijay Mallya’s seven year of domain comes to an end as the largest selling Indian spirits brand, Bagpiper whisky falls behind Officer’s Choice from Allied Blenders & Distillers. According to two independent digests of top selling alcobev brands globally,  Bagpiper, which has been at the top since last decade came down to single digit negative growth in 2011.

Going by the latest estimates of New York based Impact International and International Wine & Spirit research (IWSR) in London, Officer’s Choice has turned out to be the largeset selling Indian brand of late. Officer’s Choice owned by Kishore Chabbria noticed a 7.5 percent growth to 15.8 million cases, whereas Bagpiper witnessed a downfall of 5.9 percent to 15 million cases as per IWSR. Though in Impact’s listing the numbers for both the brands were quite higher, Officer’s Choice had a clean sweep.

ABD Vice-Chairman & Chief Executive, Deepak Roy, said,  "We have built the future of Officer's Choice brand, pulling it up from fourth largest to the top selling Indian brand in just four years," as quoted by Times of India.
