New Startups Thrive As e-Commerce Expands On Mobile Devices


BANGALORE: Every time Jafer Khan, a 22-year-old student in Chennai runs out of money for mobile data he unknowingly sends two cents worth to the largest ecommerce in the country. In turn he makes fast money by simply filling up surveys for which mobile application introductions failed to grad his attention as well as reviewing latest app features, reports ET.

Although these mobile apps seem like they are helping people like Khan, THE mobile strategies of online marketplaces reap the benefits more than anyone else as tech startups obtain a number of services that includes Big Data-driven push notifications and  feedback on demand which prompts cart-abandoning consumers to finish their purchase.

Moengage, a company that leverages Big Data to acquire customer information from social media to build distinct user profiles for specific enquiries to change abandonments into purchases. Snapdeal  is ready to work alongside any service provider that can bring up app downloads through contextually related placements cited Anirudh Kumar, assistant vice president-online.

AppVirality that works alongside   with Yatra, Quickr, MakeMyTrip, builds plugin software for challenges which involve expanding the word on an app. Laxman Papineni, founder and CEO of the company said

"The new normal is to get your 5-10 million user base to do the job of spreading the message to complement digital advertising”.
