Kohli Goes Mahi Way, Invests 90 Cr To Launch Chain Of Gyms


BANGALORE: Cricketer Virat Kohli is all set to bring in the wave of fitness in the country with his chain of gyms. Reportedly, Kohli will invest a staggering 90 Crore partnering with Satya Sinha to launch 75 fitness centers across the nation. The chain of gyms will operate under the brand Chisel. Chisel is the joint venture of Kohli, CSE, the sister concern of Cornerstone Sport & Entertainment and Chisel Fitness, reports Firstpost.

"We will launch gyms of various sizes and with different facilities according to their locations. We are also in talks with international sports-based fitness experts to bring in their expertise," said Sinha, director of Chisel Fitness.

"The gyms are just a start. There are plans on the anvil to launch fitness inspired clothing lines and tech wearables in the future," said Gaurav Marya, chairman of Franchise India.

In addition to this, the cricketer also plans to start his own sports clothing line and tech wearable under the same brand. Kohli also made investments in Sport Convo, social media based in London.

Sport Convo is presently run on venture capital investment and the online presence is under development of Delhi-based social media.  

Apart from this, Kohli also partners with Indian Super League football franchise and clothing line Wrogn.

Besides Kohli, M.S. Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh have stepped into the business world while Robin Uthappa invested in food delivery startup, iTiffin.

With time, cricketers, besides signing up for endorsements, are making it big by stepping into the world of business. This year also witnessed many startups coming forward to sponsor teams in IPL.
