Apple Posts Biggest Ever Profits, Despite 8 Pct Plunge In Shares

BANGALORE: Although, Apple makes most of its money from the iPhone, the other products also make some money for the company. Here are the results of sales for other Apple products, reports Tech2.

iPhones

Since last three months, Apple has sold over 47.5 million iPhones that is statistically 35 percent more than its sale a year earlier in the same period. During the December sales Apple sold over 74.5 million units, which is considered the highest peak of sale.

Consequently, the June quarter is supposedly a slow seller fall for the company as the customers tend to wait for the release new Smartphone during the fall. However, the sales of iPhone contributed $31.4 billion to the company’s total revenue in the quarter.

iPads

The sales of iPads seem to have been declining for over a year now, as customers prefer buying Smartphone with larger screen. Apple managed to sell 10.9 million iPads in the last quarter, which is almost 18 percent short of the sales that it made last year.

The sales of the iPad, earned $4.5 billion to the company’s revenue. Apple promises to upgrade its software for the ipad in order to make the device useful, by adding such features as the ability to run two apps and view them at the same time, in split-screen.

Macs

The Macintosh computers seem to have seen uplift in the PC industry. The sinking demand of the PC has managed to sell 4.8 million Macs in the quarter, which is supposedly 9 percent higher than its sales a year ago.

The sale contributed $6 billion in the revenue, and the Mac sales was driven by new versions of the company’s MacBook laptops, according to CEO Tim Cook, although he did not provide details on desktop sales.

Watch, iPod and other products

Apple has declined to reveal its sales report for the iPod, as the demand for the device has decreased because people prefer listening to music on their Smartphones rather than buying an all-new device for the same.

The other products include new Apple Watch, beats headphones, Apple TV and other accessories, which made a profit of $2.6 billion in the revenue, which is 49 percent higher than the sales report last year.

Services

The services like digital music, apps and e-books, as well as services like AppleCare, Apple Pay and other sources, are a trend featured by the company. These services made $5 billion revenue from its sales, which is 12 percent more than that of the sales a year earlier.

Though the company do not expect too much revenue from its services instead believes that these services are made to create efficient experience of using Apple devices so that the customers have a reason to buy it again.
