8 Indian Companies on Fortune 500 List


Bangalore: Fortune has come up with a list of world’s 500 largest companies and the list includes eight Indian companies, including the oil major Indian Oil Corporation and Reliance Industries led by Mukesh Ambani.

Talking about the companies at global level, U.S. retailer, Wal-Mart Stores topped the list, followed by oil giant Royal Dutch Shell and oil major, Exxon Mobil, at second and third position respectively.

Indian Oil Corporation

IOC has the highest rank of 125 among the featured Indian companies in the list. Indian Oil Corporation is a public sector company head-quartered in Mumbai. Fortune Global 500 ranked it as the world’s 98th largest public sector company and by revenue last year; it is India’s biggest public company. R. S. Butola is the Chairman of Indian Oil. It has an annual turnover of 3,13,628 crore. Its profit after tax is 7,831 crore. Its total assets are worth 1,17,406 crore. It is currently being traded at 272.50 in the stock market.
