Bangalore: Brand Finance has come up with the ‘Global 500 2014’ list of world’s most valuable brands. The top companies locking horns for a rank in the list were evaluated by the Royalty relief methodology. This method calculates the price a company will be willing to pay to license its own brand if its brand didn’t exist. It takes into account the brand’s business performance, stake holder opinion, consumer emotional attachment, employee satisfaction, online presence and various other factors to reach at a figure.

Brand value acts as a useful tool in legal transactions, dispute resolution, taxation planning and strategic planning.

Brand Value: $104,680m

Apple, a leading global player in the consumer electronics and computer hardware and software segments retains the top slot in the list for the third consecutive year. It has market cap of 29.4 percent and gets a very strong brand rating of AAA. Users give it 3 stars out of 5 for value for money, emotional attachment, reliability, visual identity and corporate social responsibility.
