The next generation of killer apps that target customers would have the right combination of CRM (Customer Relationship Management), Mobile and Predictive Analytics capabilities.

The fundamental premise of a CRM system is to provide a 360 degree view of the customers so that the customer needs can be serviced in a proactive and context sensitive manner. However, the secret sauce of achieving this 360 degree means more than a single CRM system; it requires real time predictive business intelligence capabilities connected to the CRM view, which is mobile enabled. If companies are to remain relevant to their customers they must be able to sense and adapt to changes in the customer’s world before their competitors. Getting this customer experience philosophy right requires a combination of far more profound and interconnected applications portfolio, including business intelligence, that power the CRM strategy.

The focus on customer driven enterprise is focused on continuous innovation in value creation and delivery, which goes beyond CRM and does require a 360-degree view, not just of the customer’s touch points but their context and the forces that shape it. This trend is driven by the need to put context sensitive information in the hands of anyone who needs to serve the customer, and potentially on any device. With mobility on the rise and being treated as a first class citizen, CRM systems on smart phones and tablets can certainly speed the sales cycle and potentially improve average sales per customer. The key thing is to look at all critical front and back office processes in a holistic manner when considering mobility.

The main challenge for entrepreneurs is to identify a niche area for them to focus on in the beginning so that they can differentiate themselves from their bigger competitors. If entrepreneurs combine the niche area with a laser focus on making customers successful, they have a better chance of success in taking the company through the difficult period of initial year or two.
