Karan Bajwa, the newly appointed Group Director - Public Sector, Microsoft, is an electronics and communications engineer who has spent 19 years in the IT and Telecom industry. In his long career, Bajwa has worn several hats across various areas like sales, business development, business management, operations, and technology. His move from the telecom industry to the IT sector was the turning point in his career.
Bajwa believes in the maxim “it’s not always about doing different things, but doing things differently.” In his new role he plans to build a mid term strategy and a long term vision and then build tactics around them. “Delivering value to relationships is the key to my mind. “How to add value to our customers businesses is something that will be foremost on my mind,” says Bajwa. A people’s person, he is at his best while among the team members and enjoys working in multi-cultural environments. Measured aggression, people skills, and the ability to balance strategy and tactics are what help him score in his work. His advice to the ‘techies’ is “Always establish a link between technology and the customers’ business requirements and be driven by the latter rather than the former.”
Outside work, family is the foremost priority to Bajwa and he loves spending time with them. He is an amateur golfer too.
