Microsoft fulfills its promise made in early 2007 to deliver the new version of CRM software by the end of the year. Recently, Microsoft released a new version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, formerly code-named ‘Titan’, that has been completed and released to manufacturing. The new software, which will be available for customers and hosting partners, will be under two product names: Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 for on-premise and partner-hosted deployments and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Live for Microsoft-hosted deployment.

Microsoft points to CRM 4.0’s multi-tenant architecture as one of the main new features for Microsoft CRM. This gives both Microsoft and its hosting partners the ability to host CRM in much higher volumes, setting the stage for a showdown with the likes of Salesforce.com.

Designed with a single unified-code base for both on-premise and on-demand deployments, Microsoft Dynamics CRM enables customers to choose the right deployment model for their specific business and IT needs, with the flexibility to change deployment models over time if their needs or preferences change. Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 will be available worldwide in more than 25 languages.

The new release of Microsoft Dynamics CRM has been in extensive use over the past year by more than 600 partners around the world and more than 100 early access customers. In spite of CRM 4.0’s release, the Microsoft-delivered software-as-a-service version, known as CRM Live, won’t be available for most customers until sometime in the second half of 2008.
