Best Smart Devices For Your Home

. August Smart Lock:

It’s true that most people don't need to 'augment' their house keys with their smartphone. If you wanted to add that dimension to your security, though, the latest August Smart Lock does its job well enough to fit the bill. At $229, it's expensive, but it's built well and (relatively) easy to install over most existing deadbolts.

It works efficiently with IFTTT and Apple's HomeKit - but not with Samsung's SmartThings Hub - and its companion app is simple to get around.

. Philips Hue White:

Connected lights like the Philips Hue White are the simplest way of melding technology with your home. They're easier to install like like any ordinary bulb and it also gives you the freedom to devide how intense you want the light to be. The price at $15 or so is a bit steep but LED lights like these last much longer than their CFL or incandescent peers and when used correctly, setting your lights to lower levels can save energy, and thus cash, over time. Plus it's just a fun party trick.
