Specs Comparison: Apple Watch vs Microsoft Band 2 vs Samsung Gear S2

BENGALURU: Recently Microsoft launched its redesigned Band 2 fitness tracker and a smart wearable featuring improved fitness tracking capabilities than its predecessor. It also has a number of new smart wearable features, but it isn’t the only one in the market; the other smart wearables such as Apple smartwatch and Samsung Gear S2 are also making a difference in their own way, compiles TechRadar.

So here’s a list of the three new smart wearables comparing their design, display, processor and storage:

Design

There is not much change in the new Microsoft band; it has the same flat strap that hooks with a subtle chip but has more of a curved display as opposed to the flat one like in the previous version. It offers a simple and sporty design with improved features.

The Samsung Gear S2 appears to be the same as regular wrist watches as the display is round in shape. It offers a sporty design with a plastic band that is light to carry, with its 11.4mm thick design giving it a sleek appearance.

The Apple Watch offers a square display which is different from the other two bands, and the availability in different colors makes the band look more attractive. Measuring 10.5mm, the Apple Watch is a little thinner than the Gear S2.

Display

The new Microsoft Band display is rectangular, which makes it perfect as a fitness tracker. The display of the device is 32mm x 12.8mm (1.26 x 0.5 inches) and with a resolution of 320 x 128 pixels.

Whereas the display of Samsung Gear S2 is 1.2 inches full circular AMOLED and has a resolution of 360x360 with a pixel density of 302 pixels per inch.

The Apple Watch is available in two different display options. The first is 38mm diagonal, with a resolution of 340 x 272 pixels. The second display is 42mm and has a resolution of 390 x 312 pixels.

Processor and Storage

Microsoft hasn’t listed about the Band’s processor and storage capacity, which makes it difficult to compare these features with others.

The Samsung Gear S2 offers three variant that has dual-core 1GHz Pega-W and dual-core 1GHz MSM8226 processors, has 4GB storage capacity, and offers 512MB of RAM.

The Apple Watch features an Apple S1 chip, comes with 8GB of storage, and also has 512MB of RAM.
