Sony Unveiled World's Smallest Camera With 24MP


BANGALORE: Sony has introduced a compact A5100 camera with features similar to the A6000 model. It has a 24-megapixel APS-C size sensor and Fast Hybrid Autofocus (AF) system. It has been claimed to be the world's smallest camera for its sensor size that includes a built-in flash and Wi-Fi.

That camera is mirrorless and has interchangeable lens, it can lock in autofocus, as little as 0.07 seconds. It has a zoom lever and a pop up flash at the top of the camera. The camera is the smallest with the dimension of 4.3 inches (w) x 2.5 inches (h) x 1.4 inches and a weight of about eight ounces.

It also has Bionz X-branded processor like the A6000 and can shoot full 1080p, HD video in AVCHD as well as the XAVC S codec that records video with a speed of 50 Mbps. It features 3-inch, LCD touchscreen on its back that can tilt up to 180 degrees upright for self-portraits.

It includes Wi-Fi connectivity to expand the camera's functionality with apps downloadable from the Sony PlayMemories store. The camera can also be controlled through a smartphone as it has NFC technology installed in it.

The Sony A5100 price will be around $700 including kit lens, and can be pre-ordered currently and it will go on sale in September 2014 in black or white versions.
