Smart-phone for 99 INR: "Achhe Din" are here for sure!

BENGALURU: At a press conference in Bengaluru, Namotel promoter Madhava Reddy marketed the firm’s smart-phone “Namotel Achhe Din” which will be available for just 99, making it the world's cheapest smart-phone. The website of the company, namotel.com, shows that the price has been slashed from Rs 2,999 to Rs 99 and that the smart-phone is available on cash-on-delivery basis. The company also adds that nominal delivery charges will be levied.

With a 4 inch screen, the smart-phone is 3G enabled and will be available for bookings between May 17 and May 25 at its special launch price, reports Gadgets 360. Other specifications of the device include a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, and 1GB RAM. For booking this smart-phone, customers need to sign up for a service called BeMyBanker, where they will have to provide their Aadhaar details and photograph. However, BeMyBanker's website is not loading at present.

Four more smart-phones have also been enlisted on the firm’s website, with “Aazadi” smart-phone priced at 1,999 INR and a VVIP luxury smart-phone priced at 1,99,999 INR among others. In a PTI report, Reddy has claimed that the launch price of Namotel Achhe Din makes it the "world's cheapest phone with a 4-inch display".

A Bengaluru-headquartered startup as the firm’s website suggests, it started operations in 2016 and claims to have established under the auspices of the 'Make in India' campaign. Among other claims the organization also states that it has centers in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, and Chennai.

With smart-phone priced at such a low cost, customers would be eyeing for this smart-phone for use. But they need to be careful as claims like that has been made before by organizations with Freedom 251 and Mango smart-phones which failed badly when it came to delivery.
