'OnHub': Google's New Smart Wi-Fi Router Launched

BENGALURU: Google Inc launched its new cylinder-shaped Wi-Fi router called ‘OnHub’ and is now available in market via online for USD 199.99, reports NDTV.

The Wi-Fi router comes with in-built antenna that scans the airwaves to find the fastest connection. This helps the users in prioritizing devices with fastest internet connection for their heavy data activities.

Connected with Google’s On app available on iOS and Android, the router can check network range and keep track of bandwidth use. According to Google, the router automatically updates with new and latest features.

The network company TP-Link manufactures OnHub and Google hinted ASUS can be the second manufacturing partner.

Technology firms including Intel Corp, Cisco Systems, Samsung Electronics and telecom giants Vodafone and Verizon are betting heavily on Internet device-connected homes for future revenue.

Currently, Google has plans to provide faster internet with its Fiber service in some of U.S. cities and is working on the Project Loon which will provide internet connection to remote areas by floating balloons 20km above Earth’s surface.
