Nissan Reveals World's First Self-healing Smartphone Case

Bangalore: Nissan, the world-class carmaker has decided to change some tracks and is now associated with smartphones too. The company has announced the world’s first self-healing iPhone case which claims to heal itself from any scratches or cuts by using a scratch-healing paint that’s used on Nissan and Infinite models.

Nissan self-healing iPhone case is made of ABS plastic shell which is coated with ‘Scratch Shield’ paint; the case has a craggy texture, it is rigid, robust, and tight-fitting and doesn’t have a glossy, slippery finish like other cases.

The magical paint used in this case is polyrotaxane-based; the polyrotaxane has the ability to react to changes and can repair its chemical structure to original state. Nissan claims that small scrape will heal in an hour while deeper cuts may take a week to glue up.

The use of this Scratch Shield paint is already done on Japanese mobile phones like Style Series N-03B of NTT DoCoMo. Nissan is now trying to bring up this technology to other mobile devices and products. The new iPhone case is still in its beta testing stage, the company says the product will be available in the market by the end of this year.
