Motorola Launches 2nd Gen Droid Turbo & Droid Maxx




BANGALORE: Motorola launched the Droid Turbo 2 and Droid Maxx 2 at an event on Tuesday. The second generation handsets have lots of features improved from the first edition, reports NDTV.

The Droid Turbo 2 comes with high-end specification much like the original Droid Turbo. The new phone sports a 5.4-inch QHD display and it is 'ShatterShield', according to the company, this display can withstand even a slab of concrete dropped on it, as it made up of aluminium rigid core, flexible AMOLED screen, and dual-layer touchscreen panels.

The younger brother, Droid Maxx 2 sports a 5.5-inch display with mid-range specs under it. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core SoC clocked at 1.7GHz and Adreno 405 GPU, coupled with 2GB of RAM, and comes with 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card.

The second generation Droid Turbo is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC fixed with 3GB RAM and offers 32GB and 64GB variants. However both the variants of Droid Turbo 2 come with expandable memory option and it can expand up to 200GB.

The new Droid Turbo features Quick Charging and houses a 3,760mAh battery; in addition, Motorola claims the phone will last for 2 days with full charge. The 3,630mAh battery powers the novel Droid Maxx and even this handset is expected to last from 2 days with mixed use.

Coming to camera side, both Turbo 2 and Maxx 2 features 21-megapixel rear-camera dual-LED flash with f/2.0 aperture and Phase Detect Auto-Focus (PDAF) capability, and a 5-megapixel wide angle front-facing camera.

The two new phones will be available in U.S. from October 29th and it will be made available in November to rest of the consumer around the globe. The pricing of Turbo 2 starts from $624 (approximately 40,000) and the mid-range Maxx 2 comes with a price tag of $384 (approximately 25,000).
