Motorola FlipOut selling in India at 15,990


Bangalore: Motorola has unveiled its Android based handset 'FlipOut' in India and is priced at 15,990. The phone has a 2.8 inch QVGA touchscreen and offers a resolution of 320X240 pixel. To reveal the five row QWERTY keyboard, FlipOut's top can be swiveled. The square shaped phone was announced last month and now it is all ready to hit the Indian market. "We further enhance our smartphone portfolio in India with a unique and trendy form factor for the young at heart with the Motorola Flipout. While it merges Motorola's design heritage with Android capabilities to deliver a unique smartphone form factor, it will be a delight for those who expect their social experiences to be effortless and intuitive," said Faisal Siddiqui, country head for India, Motorola Mobility. FlipOut will run on Google Android 2.1 Eclair update and it can handle upto seven customizable home screens, live wallpapers and also brings Microsoft Exchange server support. With the use of MOTOBLUR interface emails, texts, social networking messages, posts, feeds and status updates in two, easily accessible widgets can be merged. To run Android 2.1 smoothly, the handset has 700MHz processor, 512MB ROM and 256MB RAM. The phone comes with a 3 megapixel camera and users can upload the images onlineon social networks using the 3G networks or Wi-Fi. With the assisted GPS with Google Maps and eCompass, location based services can be used but the Google Street View will not work in India. Flipout can support up to 32GB capacity microSD card. FlipOut would be available with four replaceable back panel covers - Licorice (Black), Fairway Green, Poppy Red and White. It allows developers to design applications independent of the handset type and users can download over 70,000 applications like games, music, music players and location-based services.
