Micromax Launches World's First Smartphone Supporting 21 Languages

BANGALORE: Homegrown mobile company and India’s 2nd largest Smartphone maker Micromax is certainly tapping on some new specs, as it launched the first ever phone which supports 21 Indian languages—Micromax Unite 2 at a price tag of 6,999, as reported by Anupam Saxena, TOI Tech.

Powered by a 1.3GHz quad core processor, the Micromax Unite 2 is the first phone from the company’s flagship that will run on the latest Android KitKat 4.4.2, which can further be easily upgraded through FOTA. The Unite 2 offers users a number of features including voice search, Google Drive, Hangouts for video calls, smart contact prioritisation and may more with a promising faster multitasking.

Commenting on the launch, Shubhodip Pal, CMO, Micromax said, “India is a diverse country and language at times can act as a barrier for people to seamlessly communicate on their phones. Therefore, we firmly believe that support for local languages on phones will perhaps be the next big driver for day to day phone transactions, internet usage and online content consumption in India given that most of the population does not use English as their primary language,” reports Technology.

The Micromax Unite 2 comes loaded with features like a 5-megapixel auto focus rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera. The device is powered with 1-GB RAM and has a 4-GB internal memory that can be expanded up to 32-GB via a micro SD card. The phone supports Bluetooth v4.0 and WiFi, ensuring full time connectivity for the social media buffs. It’s also packs a 2000 mAh battery that ensures a strong battery backup.

One notable feature of the Unite 2 is that it comes with pre-loaded MAd Call app. With this app one can make a call, watch an Ad and get money added to phone's balance. This works in both pre-paid and post-paid connections across all operators, climed Micromax.
