Meizu MX4: First Meizu Smartphone To Be Powered By Ubuntu OS


BANGALORE: Cannonical the company behind Ubuntu OS is leaving no stone unturned, the first Ubuntu Smartphone came out two years after the launch of the OS. The process has taken the curve to ride back fastwith the next Ubuntu phone that came out just a month before and right here is another one from Meizu, reports NDTV.

Reportedly, the earlier two models were in the collaboration with BQ, the latest one is as of now for Europe market; no other announcements were made as to its availability other than in China.

The latest Meizu MX4 Ubuntu edition is priced at EUR 299 and will be only sold through official Meizu website through a invite only system. The Ubuntu edition comes in the original Meizu MX4 itself but in place of Android Kitkat 4.4, Ubuntu will be running. Also Cannonical claims that with its Ubuntu Scopes UI the phone will give a much better experience with categorized home screens providing the content in their specific categories.

The Meizu MX 4 Ubuntu Edition sports a 5.3 inch display with a resolution of 1152x1920 and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection. The internal hardware is powered by a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek 6595 processor with four Cortex-A17 cores that clocks 2GHz and four Cortex-A7 cores that clock 1.7GHz. The phone runs on a 2GB LPDDR3 RAM and PowerVR G6200 GPU with sporting a  20 MP camera at the rear with IMX220 Exmor RS series sensor and a blue glass filter. The front camera is of 2MP with Sony IMX208 sensor and f/2.0 aperture.

Coming to the connectivity features it is compatible with 4G LTE, TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE networks along with the other features like Wi-Fi 802.11 a,b,g,n,ac, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, and USB connectivity. This whole energized set is powered by a 3100 mAh battery and the phone comes in Black, Golden, Black/White, and Silver/White colors to choose from.
