Lava's Intel Smartphone Coming to India First

Bangalore: Lava International, an Indian mobile maker joined hands with Intel to come up with an Intel inside smartphone. The new device was first showcased at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) at Barcelona in February and now Intel CEO Paul Otellini had confirmed that this new Intel inside smartphone is finally set to reach customers later this week.

Lava had dubbed this phone as ‘Xolo X900’ which will be powered by Intel's Atom chip code-named as Medfield and will also feature Intel Hyper-Threading Technology. It will also support HSPA+ with the Intel XMM 6260 Platform.

Lava Xolo X900 will be running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread which will be upgraded to Android 4.0 later. The device will sport a 4.03-inch high-resolution LCD display, an 8 megapixel rear camera which shoots 1080p HD videos and features burst mode to capture ten pictures in one second and a 1.3 megapixel camera in the front. It has 1GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory expandable to up to 32GB and supports HDMI and NFC technology.

Intel’s effort to enter the smartphone market seems to be promising. Presently the smartphone chip market is ruled by ARM and Intel is trying to grab a pie in this market as the company is also launching Intel smartphones from Lenovo, Motorola, Orange, and ZTE soon.

Lava Xolo X900 is expected to cost 13,000, which seems to be an smart option to invest on a high-performing smartphone like this.
