Bangalore: HP India created an innovative set-top box or we can say an internet access device for televisions in India. HP's 'Vayu' is an internet access device which can be connected to TV sets and allows you surf internet on TV.

Vayu can be connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet port or by 3G USB dongle and it is connected to the TV via HDMi or through a normal audio-video cable. The device comes with 1 GB of RAM and runs on Linux platform. It has 8 GB of internal memory where you can store images, music’s, videos and any other documents. For connectivity it has USB ports, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

The device is compatible with normal and high-end HD LED or LCD television sets. One interesting feature in this device is, you can perform basic operations using your TV remote and by using USB ports you can also attach keyboard and mouse which turns your TV in to a regular PC.

It seems the company is targeting Indian home that does not have a computer or internet connection and is trying to offer a device which can be used as an internet access device and a personal computer. HP has not yet revealed the availability and price details of this device. Keeping the price sensitive Indian market in mind ‘Vayu’ is expected to cost less than 10000.
