HP Announced New Windows 8 Tablet - ElitePad 900


Bangalore: Yet another member that shall soon join the ever growing family of the tablets which operates on Windows 8. The new entrant is from HP, ElitePad 900.

The Windows 8 tablet comes with a 10.1 inch display screen which is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 2 along with an aluminum casing which matches up to the military grade durability. The tablet is able to with stands tests like drops, dust and extreme temperatures. The 10.1 inch screen supports a resolution of 1280 X 800 pixels. It is powered by next-generation Intel mobile processors and backed by 2 GB of RAM.

The tablet is extremely lights as it weighs just 608 grams and measures only 9.2 mm. The company will target the business class with this gadget though they are also looking at making a mark with the normal consumer as well.

The ElitePad 900 comes with an 8 mega pixel rear camera with an LED flash. It also has a front facing camera that is capable of shooting videos with 1080 pixels resolution. The tablet is available in two memory variants; 32 GB and 64 GB and both models have slot for a microSD card for expanding memory. The device also comes equipped with a stylus pen.

HP has also comes up with an ePad Smart Jacket which doubles as a protection case for the tablet and it also has an additional battery which would extend the battery life up to 80 percent. The suite of accessories will all be sold separately.

The HP Windows 8 tablet, ElitePad 900 is expected to be out in the U.S. market by January 2013. HP hasn’t said anything about the pricing yet. They would probably reveal it closer to the launch time. HP hasn’t revealed any information of the availability if the gadget in the Indian market yet.
