Google I/O: What to Expect in 2016

BENGALURU: Google—a name synonymous with innovation is all set to show us its future. Every year at its Google I/O conference, the company's top names get together to showcase what's coming next for their biggest projects: Android and Chrome, VR and AR, cars and balloons, watches and TVs and so on.

The same is bound to happen this year. But going by the leaks and rumors that have come out over the past few months, something stands out as being a bit different this time around — we don't know all the subtle details about what's to come.

There are some big secrets that seem to have leaked out — especially related to VR. And generally, we have a pretty good idea of what kinds of announcements Google will focus on. So for those of you wondering what to expect, read on below, as reported by Jacob Kastrenakes for The Verge.

Android N:

Of course the first thing that we are going to hear about is Android N. Google switched things up this year by debuting Android N early, so it may not have as much to talk about it on stage at I/O. We already know about the core— getting split-screen multitasking, improvements to battery life, and — most importantly — new emoji.

But Google has certainly got more to show. Google could unveil the alternative to 3D touch. It could give N a good name or even announce its release date. How much of that will happen? It's hard to fathom given Google's recent timing.
