Flipkart To Launch Its Very Own Smartphones

BANGALORE: Flipkart, the largest Indian e-tailor is planning to launch its own set of Smartphones . As the company has made quite a reputation of delivering whatever the people are looking for, and the recent successful exclusive launch of Moto G on Flipkart has apparently sparked the company to set its feet into the Smartphone industry.

The anonymous sources say that the company was intalks with the famous chipset players for two years now, including Intel, Media-Tek and Qualcomm. The company is expected to release the two handsets with processors from one of the three chipset manufacturers sometime soon and plans to bring out the best for its consumers, reports BGR.

Tata Group’s retail chain, Croma, already sells a number of white label (gadgets under their own brand name). However, if everything turns up as expected, Flipkart will be the first online portal to come up with the idea and is to sell their phones strictly online and not in any retail outlets.

According to Convergence Catalyst’s 2014 outlook report for Smartphones and tablets, “E-Commerce players have emerged as strong distribution channel for smart devices, especially Smartphones, in India. Their no-frills operations, lean supply chain, direct access to consumers and growing brands make them the preferred partners for many smartphone OEMs.”

Flipkart’s idea of Smartphone may jolt the other online counterparts to join the race and looks like the online retailer can expect quite a competition from others.
