Apple Updates the MacBook Line-up


BENGALURU: Earlier this month, the Cupertino based tech giant, Apple revealed the first modest priced iPhone—5 SE. Now, the firm updates its MacBook line-up, the 12-inch MacBook receives update both inside and out. While the 13-inch MacBook Air will be offered with 8GB RAM as standard across all the variants, reports Tech 2.

The thinnest 12-inch MacBook once again sports with single USB type-C port, but its processor is upgraded to the latest Core M processor, also known as Skylake processor. Though the Core M processor is not as fast as Core I processor, it can be clocked between 1.3GHz to 3.1GHz. After iPhones, it is MacBooks’ turn to flaunt the new Rose Gold skin.

On the other hand, the 13-inch MacBook Air gets the 8GB RAM across all the variants. Despite the 8GB RAM, the new MacBook Air lacks the retina display.

According to Apple, the new Core M processor is more powerful than the last one, utilizing the battery 25 percent efficiently. Apple claims the novel 12-inch MacBook can enable users to surf the web for 10 hours or  watch movies up to 11 hours with full charge.

“MacBook is the thinnest and lightest Mac we have ever made and it’s our vision for the future of the notebook,” said Philip Schiller, Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing at Apple. “Customers are going to love this update to MacBook, with the latest processors, faster graphics, faster flash storage, longer battery life and a beautiful rose gold finish.”

Finally, the entry level MacBook powered by a 1.1GHz Core M CPU, 8GB RAM and 256GB flash SSD will be priced at 1,06,900 from tomorrow. The price of new MacBook Air is not revealed and it is expected to carry a similar price tag as its predecessors.
