Apple Turns to India, as Chinese Market Dulls

BENGALURU: As Chinese markets dull, Apple has turned its iPhone success story to India which is now said to be the Fastest Growing Large Economy in the world, reports Reuters.

In the backdrop of slow global sales, Apple witnessed its first ever revenue fall in 13 years, while the company saw a good rise in its sales in India by 76 percent. With this a report also surfaced that Apple sold an estimated 8,00,000 iPhones in India in the second half of 2015. Keeping this in mind the Cupertino based tech-giant is planning to come out with a full-pledged marketing strategy for India.

There are several reasons why the tech-giant can see the bright side in the Indian market. India is one of the largest smartphone markets, where most of it is led by Chinese brands. India is likely to overtake the United States next year to become the world's second largest smartphone market. In India, there are many faithful customers to all the Apple products. In coming days, the youth in the whole nation might soon be joining workforce with good pays. This in turn improves the lifestyle of the middle class families. Implementation of 4G connectivity will also be a key factor to make the Smartphones more consumer-friendly all over the nation. With all these right reasons Apple believes that India will be their next largest market within few years.

Apple CEO Tim Cook struck a more optimistic note, saying the company was "increasingly putting more energy" into India. "In many ways India is very similar to what China was a few years ago, but the middle class here is still very small and it can be two to three years before Apple gets a similar level of success in India," said Counterpoint Technology Research analyst Tarun Pathak, reports Reuters.
