After Apple, Samsung to Now Adopt New Leasing Program

BENGALURU: Samsung is planning to offer a service that allows its users to lease its flagship smartphones without a carrier-bound contract. Samsung is also planning to launch a leasing program for its Galaxy smartphones in the U.S., reports Moneycontrol.

Apple launched a similar program last month called iPhone’s upgrade program that allows users to own a smartphone directly from the company. By paying USD 32 per month in a two year agreement, users can get new iPhones along with Apple Care services every year.

Two year contract has been the traditional way to buy subsidized phone for a long time. Now smartphone makers seem to have adopted the new leasing program to release their new and premium devices available to users easily.

So far, the news suggests that Samsung too is planning to adopt the new leasing program and is likely to launch in the upcoming weeks.
