5 Expected Trends from Smartphone Industry in 2016


Superfast Charging

At this period, we have quick charging and fast charging features in our handsets. But the Chinese Smartphone maker, Huawei, has shown the world a glimpse of their future plan of superfast charging. In the demonstration, Huawei used a 600mAh battery that could charge from 0 to 68 percent within just 2 minutes.

If the same technology is implied on a Smartphone’s 3000mAh battery, theoretically, from 0 to 48 percent charge can be achieved within 5 minutes of charge. So, the superfast charging feature will set the trend next year.

Iteration of USB Type-C

We have witnessed the marvelous functions of USB Type-C already this year so far. The same USB Type-C will receive additional functionality towards the betterment in the New Year. Further-more many Smartphone manufacturers will adopt the USB Type-C port in their next handsets. The USB Type-C will also be featured in many laptops and tablets as well, making it the common port to connect many peripherals.

Wireless Payment

Apple being the first to debut Apple Pay with a fingerprint authentication on the iPhone, Android Smartphone makers followed the similar path to make wireless payments from their Smartphones. As a result, Samsung introduced ‘Samsung Pay’ and later Google launched their version of fingerprint secure mobile payment by ‘Android Pay’ in the latest Marshmallow OS.

Next the Korean Smartphone manufacturer, LG has taken step towards LG pay in South Koreannow.. So we can expect a fingerprint secured mobile payment option in many Smartphone platforms in 2016.
